Air-X Wind Turbine 12V Land – Wind Generator with Microprocessor-Based Technology

The AIR is by far the world’s number one selling small wind turbine. In late 2001 we introduced an entirely new level of technology previously found only in state-of-the-art mega-watt-class wind turbines.
The Air X incorporates a new microprocessor-based technology that results in increased performance, improved battery charging capability, greater reliability and the reduction of “flutter” noise from the machine.

The controller allows for peak-power tracking of the wind by optimizing the alternator’s output on all points of the cubic curve and efficiently delivers the energy to the battery. The turbine’s smart controller allows it to actually control blade rotation speed thus eliminating the buzzing noise commonly found with most small wind turbines.

Quieter operation

Previous AIR wind modules relied on their aero-elastic blade design for protection in high winds. This caused a loud flutter noise in winds above 35 mph (16 m/s). The Air X circuit monitors the wind speed and electronically slows the blades as it reaches its rated output preventing it from going into flutter. This results in a much quieter wind turbine. In high winds, the Air X will continue to produce power at a reduced level until the wind decreases, at which point maximum potential output will resume.

Making a windmill is not a far fetched dream. Learning how to make a windmill will help lower or even eliminate a monthly electric bill. Let’s face it, that’s why you’re here. You’ve seen the hype in the news about living off the grid and going green and you are ready to do something to help your family save money.
First you must understand that there are many factors that affect the output of your windmill project. To make a windmill that will effectively provide your home renewable energy, you must know how much wind is available in your region at any given time. Make sure you live in an area that has an average wind speed of 9 mph for the year. Since wind is more predominant during the winter months, you may need to build a taller tower to mount your home made windmill on. Wind energy is at it’s best when you get above the tree line.
You will also want to find out how much energy your house consumes on a monthly basis. If you are already tied into a grid and are using commercial power sources, then you can look at your monthly statement and see how many kilo-watt-hours(KWh) were used in previous months. If you are going to build soon and are not sure how much energy you will use, here is a guide that shows average appliance energy use.
We also suggest that check with your local code enforcement to make sure you are zoned properly to make a windmill. If you have already done that part of your research on windmills, then you will be happy to know that our Government is offering a tax credit for small windmills. So now is the time get started building that windmill.
We suggest a book called Windpower Worksop, by Hugh Piggot. You can’t go wrong with this comprehensive guide to making a windmill. This book will guide through building a windmill and you can save money by making a windmill on your own. So don’t miss out on the great savings, and start making a windmill.

The wind generator is the heart and soul of your windmill project. It is the wind generator that converts wind into energy. There are many types and brands of wind generators available for purchase. Some produce D/C voltage while others produce A/C voltage in both single phase and triple phase. I’ll get into the phase details A/C electricity a little later.

The basics of building a wind generator a relatively simple. The windmill blades spin, when the wind is strong enough, turning a rotor. Inside the rotor are a set of magnets. As the rotor spins the magnets pass by coils mounted on a stator. As they rotor spins, due to wind speed, it creates a magnetic field that pushes the charged particles out of the coils creating electricity. That is only the basics, so all you electrical engineers can add comments to go further into detail.

There are many factors to consider when building a wind generator. How much power do I need? How much wind will I require to achieve the power needed? How tall should I build my tower? With those questions in mind, I suggest getting a book from Hugh Piggott called Windpower Workshop. He explains all the math in detail for a fairly easy DIY(do-it-yourself) windmill.

To build a wind generator you will need several components.
* Stator= This will be the stationary portion of the wind generator that will hold the windmill magnets

* Rotor= This will spin with the blades and will have copper coils attached to create electricity

* Rectifier= This device will convert A/C electricity into D/C electricity to be able to store power in a Battery bank created by your wind generator

Note: The size of the stator and rotor will depend on your application and will need to be custom made. These are made of steel. in order to produce 1000kwh monthly they should be 12″ in diameter and 1/4″ thick.

Building a wind generator is not for everyone. But owning a wind energy system is possible. If this sounds like a project you can handle then the book from Hugh Piggott called Windpower Workshop. If you are interested in buying a wind energy system, How To Make A Windmill suggests the 400W/12V WindMax High Efficiency Wind Generators – Wind Turbine Systems

Wind energy is one of our most valuable natural resources. Each day as the sun rises, the winds begin to stir, and often the energy produced by the wind is left unharnessed. While more and more people around the globe look for sources of renewable energy, the technology being wind generators grows at an astonishing rate.

There are many kits available that are prefabricated windmills. Some of these are low output generators. Meaning they only produce around 700 Kilo-Watt Hours a month. But as the price of these windmill kits increase, so does the energy output. Ideally, you would want a windmill plant big enough to power your entire home. To achieve a life off the grid, you will most likely need more than one source of renewable energy.

Since the average Kilo-Watt hours a home uses is 1700 kWh per month, A small wind turbine will not power you entire home. Take a look at this Do it yourself windmill . This do-it yourself project will produce 1000kwh and will not cost a small fortune.

If you are are a hands-on person and would like to build a windmill, then take a look a this book. It gives you step-by-step, do-it yourself instructions to have your windmill plant up and running in just a few weeks. Maybe even days if you have the time.

During recent weeks I have spoke with many people about building a windmill to power their homes. Much to my amazement, many people do not realize they can own a windmill or even construct a windmill themselves. While I cannot speak for countries outside the U.S.A., here at home we can enjoy the freedom of building a windmill or making a solar panel.

Do not assume that every subdivision will allow you to install a wind generator with a 15 foot blade span. Some of our freedoms are removed by deed restrictions. But do not be dicouraged. There are many alternatives readily available. Many companies are downsizing windmill blades to fit on your roof much like a satellite dish.

There are many plans avaiable for making a windmill. Some are for fun, and some will actually power your home. Click here for a free guide on how to make a windmill that will power your home.

The following article is from the U.S. Department of Energy’s website and many years of research have gone into this analysis.

U.S. Department of Energy – Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

Wind and Hydropower Technologies Program

Advantages and Disadvantages of Wind Energy

Wind energy offers many advantages, which explains why it’s the fastest-growing energy source in the world. Research efforts are aimed at addressing the challenges to greater use of wind energy.

Advantages

Wind energy is fueled by the wind, so it’s a clean fuel source. Wind energy doesn’t pollute the air like power plants that rely on combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal or natural gas. Wind turbines don’t produce atmospheric emissions that cause acid rain or greenhouse gasses.

Wind energy is a domestic source of energy, produced in the United States. The nation’s wind supply is abundant.

Wind energy relies on the renewable power of the wind, which can’t be used up. Wind is actually a form of solar energy; winds are caused by the heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the rotation of the earth, and the earth’s surface irregularities.

Wind energy is one of the lowest-priced renewable energy technologies available today, costing between 4 and 6 cents per kilowatt-hour, depending upon the wind resource and project financing of the particular project.

Wind turbines can be built on farms or ranches, thus benefiting the economy in rural areas, where most of the best wind sites are found. Farmers and ranchers can continue to work the land because the wind turbines use only a fraction of the land. Wind power plant owners make rent payments to the farmer or rancher for the use of the land.

Disadvantages

Wind power must compete with conventional generation sources on a cost basis. Depending on how energetic a wind site is, the wind farm may or may not be cost competitive. Even though the cost of wind power has decreased dramatically in the past 10 years, the technology requires a higher initial investment than fossil-fueled generators.

The major challenge to using wind as a source of power is that the wind is intermittent and it does not always blow when electricity is needed. Wind energy cannot be stored (unless batteries are used); and not all winds can be harnessed to meet the timing of electricity demands.

Good wind sites are often located in remote locations, far from cities where the electricity is needed.
Wind resource development may compete with other uses for the land and those alternative uses may be more highly valued than electricity generation.

Although wind power plants have relatively little impact on the environment compared to other conventional power plants, there is some concern over the noise produced by the rotor blades, aesthetic (visual) impacts, and sometimes birds have been killed by flying into the rotors. Most of these problems have been resolved or greatly reduced through technological development or by properly siting wind plants.

If you are looking for cheap sources of electricity, then making a windmill might be the right answer for you. You can even install a windmill at your home. This is a relatively simple project and you can start generating your own electricity from this completely free and renewable source of energy. The conventional non-renewable sources of energy such as gas, coal, nuclear are much more costly and the main disadvantage of these sources is that you cannot generate electricity from these in your own house.

In order to make your own electricity at home, you will need to make a windmill. There are many different windmills available. The goal is to find the right size for your application so that you can create your own energy. There are kits readily available and once installed the electricity is immediately available. The amount of electricity produced will generally depend on the average wind speed in your area otherwise known as quantum wind flow. If your area has a good quantum of wind flows, you will be able to generate higher amounts of electricity, and it has been shown that by installing a windmill at your home, you can lower your monthly electricity bill by up to 70 percent.

The windmill usually has three or five rotor blades and once the blades are moved by flowing wind, the kinetic energy of wind is converted back to useful energy which ultimately provides us energy in the form of electricity. Even though these rotor blades require space, they can be installed in your garden, backyard, or even on the roof. The major advantage of the windmill is that it requires little maintenance, however an initial investment to the tune of $300 is required for the whole kit. This method of making a windmill is tried and true as hundreds of thousands of people are producing electricity from windmills installed at their homes and they are enjoying the benefits of free, renewable energy.

In today’s ever changing world, where the oil and energy prices are change drastically and on a daily basis, it is the right time to look for an alternate source of energy and windmills are one of the best options available. Windmills can be installed for a nominal cost and they require little in the way of maintenance fees..
Windmill energy and solar energy are the two most famous renewable sources of energy because it only requires a small investment to tap into the Earth’s free renewable energy. If you are interested generating electricity in your own backyard then you must see our energy solution. Windpower Workshop is a comprehensive guide, necessary for all those who want to build a windmill.

You may ask, why live off renewable energy? The answer is real simple. With our worlds population going through non-renewable energy like locust in a wheatfeild, our local utilities companies cutting off our power due to overuse of the grid, and the daily warnings about our impact on the environment, it is easy to see that renewable energy is the way to go. Living off the grid and on renewable energy will reduce and possibly eliminate your electric bill, as well as being environmentally friendly. Those are both huge benefits that will secure more money in your wallet and a cleaner environment for our children.

Lets take a look at the advantages of renewable energy:

* Reduced dependence on utility companies. How many times have you lost electricity for no apparent reason only to find out that your electric company was randomly shutting down grids to conserve energy? If you were able to produce your own electricity this would never happen. Having your own reneable energy source can give you the freedom to produce what you need for when you need it.

*One major advantage of using renewable energy is that as it is renewable, therefore sustainable, and with that said it will never run out.

*Renewable energy sources generally require less maintenance than modern generators. Since their fuel is derived from natural resources it reduces the costs of operation.

*Even more importantly, renewable energy produces very little to no waste, such as carbon dioxide or other harmfull chemical pollutants, so renewable energy has minimal impact on the environment. We all praise our forefathers that had the forsight to set aside and buy property to conserve our resources and keep our natural resources safe for generations to come. Now we can all due our part to ensure a greener future by using renewable energy.

Mother Nature has provided us with the power for energy plants in the form of sun and wind. Both of these sources can be used around the world. You can be energy independent and we can help. Learn how to make a windmill.
